Getting back into the swing of things...

I realize that the previous post to this one is now almost 7 months old and there is snow on the ground in the photos and it was the beginning (although I did not know it at the time) of the longest, loneliest and darkest winter of my life...not to mention the coldest one too.
Flash forward to today...
summer has arrived and the nights are bright and beautiful. You can't help but smile as the sun shines down on you (almost 24/7 up here) and the warmth of it hugs you tight. We went to the beach for the first time and although this is primarily a fashion blog, I wanted to share some of the great shots my hubby took at 10pm last night. These moments almost make up for the wretched winter we had to endure....well, almost.

Day 15: Snowflakes & Sparkles!

I think this may be the very first time I have painted my nails red...toe-nails, yes....finger-nails, no. It seemed so daring at first but then I realized, it's so classic. Red lips have never gone out of style and I think that it is fair to say that red nails won't as well. I'm loving this hot colour mixed with various shades of silver and grey for winter. Also, who says you can't wear your summer dresses in winter? These bamboo leggings are oh so comfy and you can stay warm too when you pair them with high black leather boots (well on mild days that is...).

Day 14: Autumn Jean Shorts

What happens when you bring your 3 year old on a mini photo shoot? A distressed face. Example: photo 1. Not that there weren't any giggles going on but this happened to be the most useable photo....ahhh, c'est la vie! These are the joys of parenting a toddler...one can never know what the day may hold. But what I've been learning is the need to make the most out of any day...and that is a lesson that I will continue to learn with whatever may come my way. Happy Hump Day!

Day 13: Jean on Jean & Elephants Too!

I'm really loving the scarves that Stella & Dot has come out with in their new holiday line! This one is in a poppy shade with cute fuchsia elephants. So whimsical! A scarf can really pull a look together in the fall and winter. It can also bring a little bit of personality to your style. Also, don't forget that coloured jeans are not just for the warmer months...you can rock them anytime! So don't put them away just yet... layer it up for a casual look. They look great paired with riding or cowboy boots! Happy Monday!

Day 12: Mint, Snake & Peplum

So it snowed a few days ago and then just as soon as it got here it went away (well, almost). Excuse the goosebumps on my arm while I warm up inside with a bowl of homemade soup. Also, did you notice my tights (aka pantyhose, nylons etc... whatever you wish to call them)? I realize that for a while they were considered the "granny panties" of the fashion world, but hey... a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. And if the Duchess of Cambridge can pull them off then why can't I? Am I right ladies?

Day 11: A rose gold, coral, leopard kind of day.

Oh boy....I have a lot of explaining to do! It feels like months since my last post and I think I have some very good excuses as to why that has been the case. First of all, our 6 month old iMac died. *sad face* Another hard drive and a few new updates later...I have my lifeline back again. Ya! And then the dreaded flu of the season came for a visit (and he hasn't quite left yet...). And of course the weather has been going over to the dark side...meaning winter is just around the corner. Yes, way up here in northern Canada we really only have 2 seasons: (ok, that is a bit of a joke...) a very long, dark and cold winter and then a very short and sweet summer. But I really can't complain this year because have you seen what I am still standing on? Yes it's GREEN grass and it's OCTOBER! And that my friends is cause for celebration!

Day 10: Jean Jackets & Sock Buns

I think I have had this jean jacket for about 10 years now...crazy, huh? The thing about jean jackets is they never really seem to go out of style. It's funny to compare them to pearls, but it's true...they are both classic and timeless. And they seem to get better with age too:)
I'm also loving the simplicity of the maxi skirt and sock-bun. If you don't know how to do the sock-bun yet then I suggest going to YouTube and typing it in....there's a vast amount of how-to videos. And you'll leave there wondering where it has been your whole life. I know I did.
